INNOVATIVE – SUSTAINABLE – FUTURE-FOCUSED

Cultivating innovation for the Kiwifruit Industry

KWKIWI has been growing kiwifruit in the Bay of Plenty since 1980, proudly family-run to this day. As early adopters of gold kiwifruit and champions of low-input, sustainable farming, we constantly look ahead. Integrating the latest agri-tech to support growing and our environment.

From our own living lab orchards to our work helping others unlock smarter fruit and soil solutions, we believe tomorrow’s success is rooted in today’s innovation and care.

EXPERIENCE – INNOVATION – SUSTAINABILITY

Growing for the Future.

KWIWI has been growing kiwifruit in New Zealand’s Bay of Plenty since 1980. Founded by Phillipa Wright and Stephen Kenna, our orchards are a result of hard work, willingness to take risks and a commitment to building resilience in the business.

Today, KWKIWI remains proudly family-run, with the next generation involved — combining decades of horticultural knowledge with data, science, and a passion for sustainability, while always learning and adapting.

Gold Pioneers. Green Innovators.

We were among the first to embrace Gold kiwifruit, helping shape the premium export market that exists today. But we haven’t stopped evolving.

As early adopters of agri-tech, we see our orchards as a living lab — a place where we trial new technologies, refine practices, and develop better ways to grow fruit efficiently, with less environmental impact.

Family-Run,
Future-Focused.

Wright and Kenna Family in Kiwifruit Orchard

The KWKIWI team is family-owned and operated. Together, we focus on running a high-performing orchard business while supporting the wider industry.

Whether it’s through crop scanning services, fruit sizing partnerships, or real-time data insights, our mission is to grow better and help growers unlock smarter decisions from soil to harvest.

Care for Land, People, and Tomorrow.

Sustainability isn’t a buzzword — it’s how we operate. We champion low-input practices that enhance biodiversity, reduce waste, and protect our water and soil.

We partner with local conservation groups, plant native species, because to grow great kiwifruit, we believe you need to grow a great ecosystem.

The Kiwifruit industry is great to be involved in. At KWKIWI we like to challenge conventional thinking to find smarter and practical ways of growing on our properties. Utilising technology to help us measure what matters, give us insights and build more resilience in our business is necessary to build a strong future both for the land and our family.
